Let it Snow, let it snow let it snow

One semester down! Only 10 more to go. This was honestly the hardest semester I've ever had. It wasn't the school work but more of life that made it so hard. But Hil, Avery, and I all made it so life is good.
This morning Hilary looked out the window and said, "Josh it's snowing!"

I didn't believe it, snow in Vegas? That's crazy talk.

Sure enough here is the proof (you have to look really hard, see those blurs inside the red boxes? That's snow!)

I know that this is a weak excuse for a snow storm but we do live in Las Vegas so this only happens once every four or five years. I just had to document it.

4 more years!

I believe it's been almost 3 months since my last post. Well I'm sorry for the delay but I have been very very busy. I've been going to scout camp, pioneer trek, working at conventions, packing up and moving, and settling in a new house to name a few. Hil and I are finally here in Las Vegas and are getting settled. I'm on the eve of a life changing event. Dental school starts tomorrow morning at 8. I have wanted to be a dentist since I was in 6th grade (if you don't believe me I can show you my 6th grade year book as proof). Now after over a decade I am here in Vegas getting ready to embark on an adventure that I know will stretch me in ways I never thought imaginable. I know it will be hard on me and our marriage, but that's one of the reasons I married Hilary. She is an incredible person and I know will overcome the challenges that will surely arise in these next four years. I just can't believe it's actually going to start. The hard work paid off and I've been accepted, now there's more hard work to get through four more years. If I only had a cheering section like those at presidential political conventions "four more years, four more years". Yeah I think a cheering section would help me to not be so nervous.

Review of the Microsoft Zune

I realize that I haven't written on here for over a month. What can I say? I have been reading from my list of books. Let me not forget to mention that my life is incredibly boring and very little happens day to day. With that being said I have decided to start reviewing things such as movies, books, electronic devices, etc here on this very blog.
Today I'll start with my review of the Microsoft Zune. People often ask me if i like it and that's part of the reason that I am writing this post. I got the Zune from Woot about 8 months ago. I bought it because it was only $100, and has 30 Gig of memory (that's only $3.33 per gig!!!)
I bought the brown but now I wish I would've gone with the black, because I like the look of the black ones more.
I have had a couple of mp3 players and I think this is better than most players and is about on par with the iPod(I write this comparing it only to the iPod classic, the iPod touch is pretty incredible).
The playback sounds great, the video screen is bigger than the standard ipod, it comes with a FM tuner, and the ability to share songs with other zunes as well as wireless syncing with your computer with its built in WiFi.
I like the interface, but it can be a little slower to move through all of your files compared to the click wheel of the ipod or the scroll bar on a creative player.
The thing I like the most about it is that I can take a song off of the zune and put it onto another computer. (this can be done on an ipod but can be a little tricky)
I do have two complaints about the zune.
First is how hard it is to rip videos onto it. Software to put video on to the ipod is abounding, the same is not true with the zune. There are several hoops to jump through to get a video on there.
made it's own software for the The second problem I have is the zune software. I am still scratching my head why Microsoft zune. I mean they have a flagship media player that is on all PCs with Windows Media P yet they still made some clunky, hard to use, and some slow (sometimes I think my computer's frozen when I use it) software that really does suck compared to itunes or even windows media player.
Well anyway there are several things to consider when buying an electronic device, however I have no regrets on this purchase, and I have really enjoyed it.

So Much To Do So Little Time

In December I finally graduated with my bachelors degree. Now that I have time, I can do all of the things that I wanted to do when I was in school but didn't have time for. First and foremost is read. Here is a list of books that I've either heard about while in school, on my mission, or just want to read. This list grows weekly and I realize that I won't be able to read all of them because I'll have less time to read once dental school starts so I really have to be careful with which books I choose to read.

The Grapes of Wrath
The Bourne Books
The Chronicles of Narnia
The Screwtape Letters
Mere Christianity
Infinite Atonement
The Count of Monte Cristo
A New Witness for the Articles of Faith
Gethsemane
Rainbow Six
reread: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Eldest
Clear and Present Danger
Children of the Promise Series
Tuesdays with Morrie
Sphere
Battlefield Earth
1776
Lemony Snickets serious of unfortunate events

Happy 3-11 Day!

When I was in junior high and high school my friends and me LOVED the band 311. It was part of who defined us. It just so happens that our favorite band had a day that corresponded with the bands number. This was a day to wear all of our 311 apparel and blitz our ears with their dulcet tones. With that said I was tempted to wear my nearly threadbare, 7 year old 311 shirt; but realized I would only be embarrassing myself.
While I no longer anxiously wait for their next concert to come to town, or feel deeply hurt when a friend tells me that they don't like them, it is still fun to think about all the good times my friends and I had while enjoying their music.
So in a less obsessed and pathetic spirit than I would have said in years past
Happy 3-11 Day!

It's been awhile

It has been a while now hasn't it? Well considering that only Hilary reads this I think I'm safe to say there aren't too many broken hearts out there. Hil and I went on a cruise last month. It was FANTASTIC! The best vacation for you dollar by far. We had a lot of fun people watching, eating, sleeping, sitting on white sand beaches, and much more. Nassau Bahamas was one of our ports of call the people on the ship kept telling us how everything was tax and duty free. This made many items up to 40% off. I was left with one really burning question though, if I were to buy codeine products or and identity in the Bahamas would they be tax and duty free too?

Bode Miller you are an idiot.

Maybe it's the media's fault or maybe it's Bode's. Whoever is to blame the fact remains that Bode Miller is a cocky jerk that doesn't represent the USA well. Being so confident that he skis an Olympic race, with a metal on the line, on skis that he's never even put on. He plays basketball shortly before another race and rolls his ankle. I could go on but I will stop here as I find it frustrating to hear in the Opening ceremonies "Bode Miller will ski for 5 Olympic medals" and see him throw his chances away. He's got one chance left, but even if he wins it's obvious that he's not as cool as he thinks he is.
